Conformation shows serve the purpose of evaluating breeding stock.  They set our dogs in the context of other dogs of the breed, as well as provide a broader perspective for how common any of the weak points are.  It is an indispensable tool for a serious breeder striving to improve the breed with each consecutive generation.
